Under the balcony report.

by Henrik (26/06/11) Email

It looks like last years flowers managed to spread a few seeds. A few Jasmine tobacco plants and what looks like a sunflower are growing nicely right under my balcony.

Edit: Before this post got published, the flowers got weeded out. It's a little sad that I won't get to see the Sunflower bloom.

Summer project 2011 / Balcony report

by Henrik (21/05/11) Email

Things have been going well so far. All flowers are in their final locations now. Out of the eight sunflowers I cultivated I have given away five. So only three are left on my balcony.

Balcony report
The two boxes on the floor contains Chrysanthemum greens and Bluehead gilia mixed together. The tree pots up against the wall contains the three sunflowers. The hanging box to the right contains the Buck Bay vygie. The big pot contains the Clematis I received for my birthday last year. I'm happy it survived the winter.

Balcony report
We choose to "plant" some fake grass in the balcony box this year. Our dog Simpson likes to stand there and watch, so we didn't want to place anything there that would block his view.

Balcony report
The Rhubarb has survived yet another winter. This winter I for the first time let it stand out on the balcony. Looks like I made a good decision. It looks better than ever.

Blog moved on to new host.

by Henrik (10/05/11) Email

Yesterday I moved this blog from a VPS to a simpler and cheaper web hotel. Making preparations for the move has been one of the reasons why this blog hasn't been updated for a while now. Hopefully I will have the time to update this blog regularly soon again.

Spring is coming (Early balcony report)

by Henrik (13/03/11) Email

Last autumn I planted several flower bulbs in various pots on my balcony. Last weekend I noticed that at least one of them survived the winter. I really hoping that the coming nights won't be too cold to kill it. I would really like to see it bloom. I have know idea what type of flower it is.

About low activity and a picture on Simpson

by Henrik (16/11/10) Email

I haven't felt like posting to this blog for a while now. There are many different reasons for this, but mainly because I chosen to spend my time on other things. I want to get the posting going again so I'll start with a picture on Simpson. Yes, I have plenty of pictures on him to post, but I'll try to post other things as well.

On this picture he is 14 weeks old.

Running

by Henrik (14/08/10) Email

MeI have almost forgotten to mention how my big running race went. It did not go well at all. Got sick the weekend before and I didn't recover from it in time. I made an attempt at running it (as I promised myself) but I stopped after 4 km. I don't think it was only because of the sickness, it was a very hot day and I think I was dehydrated before I even started to run. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't complete the race, but I'm still happy that I choose to participate. It made me run a lot and I tripled the longest distanced I managed to run, from 6 km to 18 km. I'm planing to in next year entering a smaller and shorter race, so I get to feel how it is to complete a race.

A Small Copper butterfly

by Henrik (21/07/10) Email

On Hallands väderö I had the opportunity to photograph a Small Copper butterfly. I had the luck to photograph a lot of butterflies last year, but non of them was a Small Copper. So I was happy to see a butterfly I hadn't photograph before. I was never able to get as close to it as I wanted. I hope I one day I will get a better opportunity.

I got a cactus!

by Henrik (06/07/10) Email

This little cactus is a gift I received on a birthday party. It was not my party, so the gift was totally unexpected. The couple that gave me the cactus had cultivated it from a seed by themselves. They had gotten the seed from another cactus they own that had bloomed. I need to read up on cactus care so that I one day also will have a cactus that blooms.

This years balcony decorations.

by Henrik (27/06/10) Email

This year I choose to make decorations for my balcony out of clay. Me and my girlfriend spent a few evenings molding, painting and varnish a couple of clay creations. Here are pictures on all of them.
