The Tree Temple
by Henrik (22/02/10)
While in Cambodia and visiting the Angkor Wat temple I also visited other places. One of those places were a place simply called "The Tree Temple". It is not a temple for worshiping tree, but a temple that has been overgrown by huge trees. Once the whole temple was overgrown, but most of it has been cleared away. The trees that are left, can't be removed because they are helping the temple to stay together. It was a very interesting place to visit. The trees and their roots were massive. The biggest flaw of the place is that it is filled with tourist and I had to wait a while for each photo opportunity. (And as with all the other Cambodia pictures, they were shoot with my old camera.)

Angkor Wat
by Henrik (22/12/09)
When the trip to Thailand was decided, I thought, why not take a little trip to that famous temple in Cambodia. I never know when I will be on that side of the globe again. So I check things out and it turns out that Angkor Wat is only an hour's flight from Bangkok. Making it easy for me to make a short trip to the city Siem Reap and see a few things around it, including Angkor Wat. I had a guide with me at all times, but I don't remember much of what he said about Angkor Wat. I will have to refer you to Wikipedia for more information.

Brahehus
by Henrik (15/12/09)

This is a small ruin close to the city Gränna in Sweden. It is named Brahehus and I visited it when I was traveling home from Stockholm this summer. The ruin is placed high up on mountain which gives visitors a nice view of the landscape and the adjacent lake Vättern. I have included below some information about the place that is from the tourist information board I found at the place.
Saqqara
by Henrik (16 September 2008)
This is the last Egypt post and it features a picture on the world’s oldest standing step pyramid, named Saqqara.

Picture taken one (relatively) chilly and cloudy morning. (cut and resized)
The Sphinx
by Henrik (8 July 2008)
This statue probably wouldn’t be famous if it didn’t stand next to the pyramids. It just looks old and worn, no beauty left on it.

Hieroglyphs
by Henrik (30 March 2008)
The hieroglyphs are everywhere on the temples’ walls, pillars and ceilings. I was amazed to see that they often instead of chipped away the stone where the hieroglyph should be, chipped away the stone around the hieroglyph to make it stand out. See picture below.

Pyramids of Giza
by Henrik (20 February 2008)
The pyramids of Giza are big and impressive. Especially when you are standing a stone’s throw away from them. It is hard to believe that somebody actually made the effort to build the pyramids. It feels like an insane project.

The Sphinx and the Pyramid of Khufu (a.k.a. Pyramid of Cheops)
