Saqqara
by Henrik (16 September 2008)
This is the last Egypt post and it features a picture on the world’s oldest standing step pyramid, named Saqqara.

Picture taken one (relatively) chilly and cloudy morning. (cut and resized)
Streets of Egypt
by Henrik (31 July 2008)
The streets of Egypt definitely had different from the streets of Europe. They may not be specially pretty, but I still wanted to show my pictures of them.

The Sphinx
by Henrik (8 July 2008)
This statue probably wouldn’t be famous if it didn’t stand next to the pyramids. It just looks old and worn, no beauty left on it.

The Nile
by Henrik (14 April 2008)
While being in Egypt I was never far away from the Nile. It’s very apparent that the Nile is the life line of Egypt. When traveling inside Egypt the only greenery that I saw was directly right next to it.

Hieroglyphs
by Henrik (30 March 2008)
The hieroglyphs are everywhere on the temples’ walls, pillars and ceilings. I was amazed to see that they often instead of chipped away the stone where the hieroglyph should be, chipped away the stone around the hieroglyph to make it stand out. See picture below.

Pyramids of Giza
by Henrik (20 February 2008)
The pyramids of Giza are big and impressive. Especially when you are standing a stone’s throw away from them. It is hard to believe that somebody actually made the effort to build the pyramids. It feels like an insane project.

The Sphinx and the Pyramid of Khufu (a.k.a. Pyramid of Cheops)
Egypt
by Henrik (20 February 2008)
I’m starting a new blog series. This time with photographs from my trip to Egypt. I made the trip in December 2004 and it lasted for one week. The trip was filled from dawn to dusk with tours and travel, so I got to see a lot during that week.

The photo above is me on a night train from Alexandria to Aswan.
