Long Exposure
by Henrik (01/08/10)
This is a photo on Halmstad I shoot from a beach south of Halmstad. This shoot was done in the middle of the night and the exposure time was about 2 minutes. I want to go back to that beach another night. I believe I can make an even better photo if I try some more.

The bridge at Slottsmöllan
by Henrik (21/06/10)
This is the oldest bridge in Halmstad. It was built in 1879 and is still used by both pedestrians and cars. I shoot these photos using two new filters I bought for my camera. One ND-filter [Länk] specifically bought for long exposure during the day and one Polarizing filter because the ND-filter wasn't enough. I wanted as long exposures as I could get. The longest I got on the bridge and river was 0.4 second.

Fun with Sparklers - Part 2
by Henrik (31/01/10)
Here is the second post with photos from the evening when we played with sparklers [länk]. In this post I'm showing off the photos in which we were also using the flash. The photos were created by using the Bulb mode and setting the flash to fire right before the shutter closes. To explain more thoroughly, my girlfriend presses the trigger and the shutter opens and I start to move around the sparkler. When I'm satisfied with the "drawing", I positioned myself in the pose I want to have on the picture and tell my girlfriend to released the trigger. As soon as the trigger is released, the flash goes off and the shutter closes. Effectively combining a long exposure picture with a quick flash-lit picture.

Fun with Sparklers - Part 1
by Henrik (29/01/10)
Me, my girlfriend and a friend went out an evening to a dark small tunnel and played around with our cameras and a few sparklers. Using the sparklers combined with the Bulb mode on my camera, we could draw burning lines in the air. If you are unfamiliar with Bulb mode, I can tell you it's a function that allows you to keep the shutter open for as long you press the trigger. Meaning that we could stop the exposure as soon we were done drawing with the sparklers. The pictures from the evening will be posted in two separate posts. Because on some photos I set the flash to trigger right before the shutter closed and I want to have those photos in a post of their own.
On the photos below, we alternated who held the sparklers and who stood behind the camera. So in some pictures it's me drawing the lines and on others it's my girlfriend.

Night traffic
by Henrik (14/12/09)
I have been spending a few hour after work being outside and photographing the streets with long exposure times, turning cars into streaks of light.

Tunnel
by Henrik (04/12/09)
Today when I was out photographing I found a little tunnel that looked real cool when photographed with long exposure time.

I couldn't resist placing myself in the picture.
Happy Ghosts
by Henrik (22/11/09)
Somebody has spray painted (what I assume is) two happy ghosts on an electrical cabinet. I think they are cute, so I had to photograph them. The cabinet is place in the middle of the town, but I don't think many have seen the painting because it's facing away from the major streets it's close by. I only saw it because I like to walk around all over and look for photo opportunities.

The same photo, only cut differently.

This photograph was taken long after I found the painting. I wanted to wait until I had the time to photograph it while it was dark outside. I think I did the right choice. This photo was taken with a 13 seconds exposure time and it turned out great. I like the lightning and the colors.
"Foggy" water
by Henrik (21/11/09)
Sometimes bad light conditions can work in my favor. The bad lightning this month have allowed me to be standing next to the sea with my camera and taking photos with exposure times between 1 to 5 seconds. The result you can see below. All the waves hitting the rocks created a fog like effect.

Carnival ride
by Henrik (31/10/09)

This is an old photo from 2000 that I took with my first digital compact camera. By turning off the flash I was able to take a shot with long exposure time. 1/5 second to be exact and no tripod was used.

Danska fall: Long exposure

These are the photos I took at Danska fall with long exposures times. See previous post about Danska fall for more information. Photos only resized, not cut.

Midnight walk
by Henrik (08/06/09)
This weekend I took the time to take a walk around my home town with my camera and my tripod. The walk was during the mild early summers night and as you can see, the moon was out.

This photo was shot with an exposure time of 15 seconds, but the rest of the photos below was shoot with an exposure time between 2 to 5 seconds. It was a lot darker in the park above than in the rest of the town.
By the moonlight
by Henrik (13 December 2008)
Today I went out and took a couple of photographs using only the full moon as a light source. I have never done this before and I was surprised how good the photographs came out. Although many of them came out blurry. The shutter speed was set on 15 seconds (my cameras maximum). And to give you an idea of how dark it really was, I sometimes had to use a flashlight to find a button on my camera.
