House plant report: Two dead plants
by Henrik (20/09/09)
Two house plants died on me during the summer.

My Parlour Palm has more or less been slowly dying under my care. I had difficulty giving it the right amount of water. It always looked like I gave it to much water or to little.

This is the Poinsettia I received as a house warming gift. It started to look pale and I tried to combat it by giving the plant some fertilizer. But after some time I saw that the fertilizer didn't do anything and I thought that replanting it might make it regain its colors. But when I took the Poinsettia out of its pot, I saw that its roots had almost completely rotten away. I hoped it would recover after the replanting, but sadly it didn't.
I small consolation is that I managed to get a cutting from it before it died. I plan on introducing that plant in an another post.
New plant

Parlour Palm (Chamaedorea elegans)

Bought a new plant because I wanted to make it a little hard to see into my bedroom. I like privacy and I don’t want to have my blinds down the whole day. So covering the lower part of the window with plants felt like a good idea.
