Plants gone (Plants update)
by Henrik (21/02/10)
I just wanted to quickly say that this winter I have lost four of my plants. My two Poinsettias and two Benjamin's Figs. As usually not sure why, but it is probably my fault somehow. I'll probably not buy a new Poinsettia until next Christmas, but a new Benjamin's Fig I will buy as soon as I find a new potential bonsai.
Poinsettia Potensai cut

My little Poinsettia potensai was growing all wrong, so I cut it down. It has now gone from a small plant to a mini plant.

Introducing: Two cuttings
by Henrik (20/09/09)

These two plants are two cuttings I have cultivate for some time. It's a Benjamin's Fig and a Poinsettia. I haven't bother to mention these plants before for two reasons. One is that I was afraid that the Benjamin's Fig would die on me at any moment, and the other is that I didn't know it I would keep the Poinsettia or not. But the Benjamin's Fig is doing great and the Poinsettia will replace another cutting that died a while ago. I going to treat both as potential bonsais.
House plants update: Bye bye plants
by Henrik (16/07/09)
Both the rose plant that I received as a birthday gift and a dear old cutting has been thrown out.
I threw out the rose plant because I one day saw it cover with small mites. Obviously I didn't want any mites in my apartment so it was quickly thrown out.
The cutting was thrown out because it died after I failed the keep it's cup filled with water. I really liked that cutting and thinks it sad that I couldn't take care of it properly.

I tried giving it some water to see if I could revive it, but the water did nothing.
Dead plant
by Henrik (10/02/09)
After a week of being away on ski holiday I returned home to find my little Poinsettia potensai almost dead. Giving it water did not help and after another week it was a dried stick. I did have someone come and check on the flowers while I was away, but I guess this little one didn't get all the water it needed.

I will replace this little potensai with a new one. I'll just cut of a branch from one of my other Poinsettias.
Potensai report
by Henrik (9 August 2008)
The Poinsettia that is in my bedroom has not grown at all this year, and it’s leafs got more bleaker as time passed. I gave it nutriment and it started to regained it’s colors.

I think I should have given the plant nutriment earlier, but I wanted to se if the slow down in grow was seasonal or not.

The Poinsettia cutting I’ve been keeping in the kitchen has been cut. It was growing to big. Also I have decided to try to make it into a bonsai. I will not try to bend any of the branches, because they are to fragile, instead I will only cut them to keep the plant in the right shape.
Cuttings (new and old ones)
by Henrik (8 August 2008)

These Poinsettia branches have been keep in water for 6 months now. They are from the Poinsettia in my living room. I put them in water because I didn’t want to throw them away and I wanted to see how long they will survive in water only. So I’m not planing to plant them in soil at all.

I cut of two branches off from my Benjamin’s fig plant and put them in water. I wanted them to develop roots. After two week, no roots and all the leafs all dried up, so my little experiment failed.
Trimming the plants
by Henrik (4 April 2008)
Before I went on my recent trip to Thailand I made the last cut on the Poinsettia. (See previous post)

Also when I came back from my trip I discovered that my Venus plant had a lot of dying leafs. It might have started to go into it’s hibernation phase (about four months to late). I regret not taking a picture of the plant before I started to trim all the dead leaf away, but here is a picture of it after it received a its trimming. I left some half dead leaf on it. I’ll remove them when they are fully dead.

Replanted cuttings
by Henrik (10 February 2008)
My two small cuttings have been moved to two nicier looking pots.
I’m hoping for the Kalanchoe to grow bigger, but I’m planing to keep the Poinsettia small.

Cut down a Poinsettia
by Henrik (10 February 2008)
Forgot to write about it when I did it. I think I did the cutting about 1 month ago or so. I’m not done with the cutting, I didn’t want to leave the plant totally without leafs, so I saved one little branch. I know it doesn’t look good now, but I’m hoping it will after 4 months or so.

Plant update.

Summery: One dead cutting, one new cutting and the state of some other plants.
One poinsettia cutting has practically died and is going to be thrown out.
The other poinsettia cutting is doing just fine and needs to be moved to a bigger pot.
The poinsettia I got as a house warming gift is looking ill. But I think it will do alright.
And my poinsettia potensai is not growing as fast as it used to.
The Kalanchoe has been accidentally cut. I was trying to remove a dead leaf, when the steam snapped. I’m trying to save the part that feel off, so I might get another cutting. As a bonus the mother plant looks better now anyways. At least that is my opinion.
Introducing my plants: More cuttings
by Henrik (17 October 2007)
These two plants are cuttings taken from my potensai plant. They may end up as potensais them selfs or they might be thrown or given away. I haven’t decided yet. That’s why I haven’t bother with placing them in proper pots.

They are keep on the kitchen table, because I don’t have any other good spots to place them on. Luckily they seem to be content with that. (Photograph from 2007-10-06)

Introducing my plants: The House warming gifts
by Henrik (28 September 2007)
These are the plants that I have recived from family and friends after I moved to my new apartment last autumn. I must say I appriceate them all and I’m doing my best to keep them alive.
Unknown

I haven yet figured out the name on this plant. I guess I haven’t tried hard enough. Visiting a flower shop and look for similar plants should be all it takes.
I’m thinking about putting this one in a larger pot. But that would mean I can’t keep it on the windowsill it is standing on now. And replanting it doesn’t only raise the question of where to put it, I would also have to pick out a new nice pot for it.
But as you might imaging, these question are not the biggest or most urgent one in my life, so I guess this plant will have to be satisfied with its pot and location for now.
Zamioculcas (Zamioculcas zamiifolia)

Kalanchoe (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana)

I don’t know why, but it has decided to grow in this strange way.
Poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima)

Pruning and bending of the small branches (2007-09-18)

I don’t really know exactly how I am suppose to work the plant in order the make it look like I want it to. It is all trial and error.
