Flicka i balja

This is one of the newest pieces of public art in Halmstad. It is a bronze sculpture made by Swedish artist Lena Cronqvist. I believe it was added to the city late May this year. I have tried to find a good article about Lena Cronqvist, but only found small pieces of information. The information I have gathered is that she is mostly know for her paintings depicting family drama, vulnerability and alienation. She was born in 1938, has a life long artist grant from the Swedish government and is currently spending a lot of her time in Thailand. With a guaranteed income from the Swedish government, I can understand why she is spending her time in Thailand. You can live a very comfortable life there. But I have read that that probably isn't the only reason for her staying there. There is a foundry outside of Bangkok where she can cast bronze sculptures. I do not definitely know that this sculpture was made in Thailand, but I would like to think so.
