Summer Flowers 2008: Review
by Henrik (25 October 2008)
Annual Asters
Bloomed late, but looked good.
Jasmine Tobacco
Grew a lot and I liked the flower. I think I will be planting them in the balcony box next spring.
Shoo-fly flowers
Did not grow as much as expected. Maybe I should have tried giving them fertiliser early on. The few flowers they did produce was pretty through.
Strawflower
A Pretty flower, but couldn’t stand up straight by themselves. I don’t think it looks nice when the flowers are falling over.
Monkey flower
Looked very nice, and I think I’ll someday plant more of those.
Moonflowers
Never bloomed, and I’m a little disappointed about that. I still have a few seeds left, so I’ll probably plant more next spring. But If it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t try planting them again.

The Shoo-flies are blooming for real now.

The unknown flowers that I found amongst the Shoo-flies are still in the balcony box. The strange thing is that they grow up in the same line that I planted the shoo-flies seeds. So I wonder if they came from the same package as the shoo-flies seeds.
The first flowers!

The Monkey flower and the Shoo-flies has bloomed! Update: On closer inspection there seems like there is a unknown plant amongst the Shoo-flies. So the photo below is not a Shoo-fly flower.

A small Shoo-fly flower.

Balcony report

Everything is growing and doing good. I’m hoping that I will have lots of blooming flowers within a month or so. I’m completely done with replanting all the little plants.

The rhubarb and Shoo-flies are growing like crazy.

Sprouts! I have been waiting anxiously for two week to see the seeds sprout.

An overview photo…

…and a nice close-up photo.
The Balcony Box
by Henrik (10 April 2008)

Continuing working on my Summer flowers 2008 project, I have now planted seeds in my balcony flower box. This year I choose to plant Shoo-fly flowers (Nicandra physaloides).
