Sprouts
by Henrik (16 April 2008)
In less then a week all my seeds have sprouted.

As you can see I planted more than one seed in one pieces of peat. This is because I know that not all seeds will grow and not all sprouts will grow up to become big plants. Most of them will, but I rather have to many than to little.
...
I move out a couple of peat pieces to see how they will react to changing conditions.
Last year some of the flowers I grew reacted negatively to leaving the cultivation box.
So I was curious to see if these flowers would also react negatively.

One the three empty peat pieces I planted Moonflowers (Ipomoea noctiflora)
From the peat pieces still in the box I moved (carefully) single sprouts to their own piece of peat. And on some that still had several sprouts left I weeded out the small ones.

Here are close-ups on the sprouts.

Strawflower (Rhodanthe chlorocephala)

Monkey flower (Mimulus_guttatus)

Jasmine Tobacco (Nicotiana alata)

Annual Asters (Callistephus_chinensis)
