The Tiger Temple - Part 3 (the non-tigers post)

by Henrik (12/02/11) Email

Last post with pictures from the Tiger Temple. This time with photos on non-tiger animals. There were a lot of other animals roaming around freely on the temple grounds and I didn't waste any opportunity to take photographs of them. They were mostly farm animals, but we saw some wild animals too. These are the best pictures I managed to take on them.

Tiger Temple

I still have plenty of pictures from my Thailand/Cambodia trip to show and I'm no way near the end of posting them. This time I'm posting my pictures from our visit to the Tiger Temple with Tigers. I have to add "with Tigers" because I was told there are many temples called "Tiger Temple", but this one is the only one with real tigers. The trip to the temple was something I planed in advance because I had seen photos from it were people were petting the tigers. I really wanted my own chance at petting a tiger. The photos I had seen before the trip from the Temple, made it seem like the tigers were awake and free roaming when you meet them. In reality they were chained and asleep. I was told they were sleeping because they are nocturnal, but after goggling the temple I found allegations claiming the animals are in fact drugged to allow tourist to get near them.

The Tree Temple

While in Cambodia and visiting the Angkor Wat temple I also visited other places. One of those places were a place simply called "The Tree Temple". It is not a temple for worshiping tree, but a temple that has been overgrown by huge trees. Once the whole temple was overgrown, but most of it has been cleared away. The trees that are left, can't be removed because they are helping the temple to stay together. It was a very interesting place to visit. The trees and their roots were massive. The biggest flaw of the place is that it is filled with tourist and I had to wait a while for each photo opportunity. (And as with all the other Cambodia pictures, they were shoot with my old camera.)
